The Department of Business Administration and Economics at Bielefeld University is a strongly research oriented department with a particular focus on the analysis of economic dynamics and quantitative research on economic policy issues. The department hosts one of the largest groups of researchers in Computational Economics in Europe. Members of the department have published extensively on these issues in leading international journals as well as in numerous recent books. They hold editorial (board) positions in several of the leading international journals in this area. The department runs a structured graduate program in quantitative economics with a specialization area in Computational Economics, is the coordinating institution of the EACEA-funded ‘European Doctorate in Economics-Erasmus Mundus (EDEEM)’ and is involved in two large international research training groups for PhD students (Graduiertenkollegs) in this field, funded by the German Science Foundation.
