EU mission-oriented R&I policy, a major workshop in Brussels

ISIGrowth’s researcher Mariana Mazzucato participated at a major workshop organised by the Science and Technology Options Assessment (STOA), a committee of members of the European Parliament devoted to all issues related to science and technology assessment.

The workshop – ‘EU mission oriented research and innovation policy’ – has been held January 24th, 2018, at the European Parliament in Brussels. Mazzucato held a key-note speech on the challenges and the opportunities of mission-oriented innovation policy.

Other key-note speakers included: William Phillips (University of Maryland & National Bureau of Standards & Technology, USA) and Kurt Vandenberghe (DG Research, European Commission).

Mazzucato was recently appointed Special Advisor on Mission Driven Science and Innovation to EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas. She will help shape the next EU Framework Programme so that it is more mission-oriented.
