ISIGrowth researcher will work close to the EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation in order to promote a new policy agenda

ISIGrowth researcher Mariana Mazzucato has been appointed Special Advisor on Mission Driven Science and Innovation to EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas.

Mazzucato will help shape the next EU Framework Programme so that it is more mission-oriented. This means transforming societal challenges – from climate change to care issues – into concrete problems that multiple sectors and different types of public and private actors can work together to solve.

Mission oriented innovation policies are at the core of the EU-funded ISIGrowth project. The project’ research findings, summarized in the first policy brief, support an alternative policy agenda based on mission-oriented policies with the aim to favour the transition towards high-value, innovative and environmentally-friendly production, distribution and consumption.
